America’s Got Talent

Americas-Got-Talent AGT Magic

AGT Magic

Some of the best ideas in TV and movies never make it past the idea stage. But Americas Got Talent, a show featuring different magic acts from all over America is a reality show on NBC where the judges — Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel — judge aspiring performers from all over the country that audition in front of them.

There are three rounds to the competition including auditions, semifinals, and finals. At the end of every episode, one performer will be eliminated by the judges until only one person remains standing — Americas Got Talent champion!

This season there have been some really great performances but also some not so great ones too! Some people were just completely out of tune or they couldn't dance at all which made it very difficult for them to stay in this competition. The show first aired on NBC in June 2006 and has been airing ever since. Now that we're on our 16th season of AGT, judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Mel B are looking for groups to showcase their abilities with the hopes that one of them will be selected to open up for acts such as Susan Boyle or David Copperfield during the finale.

There are many magicians that have tried to win AGT (Americas Got Talent) and it's safe to say that some of them had a better chance at winning AGT than others.

Who Won Americas Got Talent:

Shin Lim - Winner of AGT Season 11

Shin is only 28 years old. Shin Lim is kind of a wunderkind in the world of magic because he won an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film (an Oscar). His backstory is different from most magicians since he didn’t get into magic at six years old. Shin Lim started as a concert pianist and got into magic because of an injury to his hand.

In 2014, Shin was named "The Magician of The Year" by Royal Magical Society in London. This magician has been amazing audiences with his sleight-of-hand skills, not to mention his escape artist skills that earned him a wild card spot on Season 11 of America's Got Talent and then got him chosen as the winner!

It wasn't even close!

On top of being named the winner, Shin was also awarded $1 million dollars to continue doing magic.

Magicians who want to win AGT Americas Got Talent should be original, entertaining, creative, and skilled at what they do. Shin was all of these things, but most importantly he had abilities that were truly amazing. His skill is so good that his father has said, "I know how he does his tricks but I can't even see how he does his tricks." That's not something to take lightly coming from the man who taught him everything he knows.

According to zoom magician Jon Finch, what makes magician Shin Lim different from others is that instead of doing illusions or card tricks like many of us know them, Shin Lim uses sleight of hand combined with gimmickry, then layers on top Shin’s trademark Blue Steel expression.

When magician Shin Lim was on AGT Americas Got Talent, the judges were blown away with how well he was able to move his hands while being blindfolded and doing his card tricks. His success is due not only to his Blue Steel persona, but can be attributed to him being a complete package: being creative in all aspects of magic, being original in style, and having impeccable sleight of hand.

Shin Lim's performance on America's Got Talent put him at the top of this list because he made it through every round in which there were many other talented magicians trying to prove themselves. He did something many magicians consider nearly impossible by making it through the first section where only 100 people are chosen from a crowd of thousands out of hundreds of auditions.

Mat Franco

From the minute he stepped out onto stage, Mat Franco was a ray of sunshine. He had one of the most innovative acts I've seen on AGT given his choice of costumes and props. He had an awesome way of connecting with his audience and making them focus on what he was doing.

He also made a bunch of riddles, most of which were geared towards the judges, their personalities and habits. He turned Howie Mandel into a bird while having Mel B as an egg.

But it didn't stop there.

Mat Franco's originality gave him one leg up in AGT, but the other leg came from his skills at being able to pull off some very difficult illusions; including a Pigeon Man transformation and having one woman disappear right before the eyes of another (and vice versa).

Gabriel Iglesias and Mat Franco were the most enjoyable acts and the judges clearly noticed. Both of these guys would be great choices to win it all, especially given their charisma, talent and ability to connect with their audience. The younger demographic will most likely vote for Mat while older viewers will probably vote for Gabriel.

There's lots of disagreement among the AGT judges in their opinions about which acts are the best. However, Mat Franco was the best of AGT's season and he should win America's Got Talent.

Darcy Oake - Winner of AGT

He had the very first inkling that he'd be great at magic when he was six years old. Darcy Oake went on to win Season 1 of AGT. Since then, his performances have not only been on AGT but also in the Pompidou Center in Paris and The New Victory Theater in Los Angeles. This year, Darcy Oake will be touring with a magic show with his friend, Dave Lamperti entitled, Darcy & Dave: Magic's Magical First Show.
